From 5 to 7 June, the CFCF2023 Optical Connectivity Conference kicked off at Wyndham Zhiyin Hotel in Suzhou. As an annual event in the optical communication industry, this conference combines several innovative elements such as trend forums, exhibitions, special forums, award ceremonies, training, academic conferences, and so on. Hu Chaoyang, Chairman of Haikou Coretronics, was invited to attend the Keynote Forum and delivered a speech. Deputy General Manager Hu Yong was invited by the organisers to be the moderator of the "Next Generation Optical Devices" theme forum, sharing the cutting-edge views of many experts and scholars.
Mr Hu said in his speech that after the industry trough in 2022 due to the epidemic and other factors, 2023 will usher in a real challenge. Taking the impact of basic models on the general industry as an example, the emergence of AI such as chatbots will be accompanied by a new wave of industry climax. The epidemic does change a life, but the technology does not stop, "although the road is far, the line will be there, although things are difficult, work will be accomplished" The future of the optical communication industry still needs more partners to work together.
Hitech demonstrated the 200G QSFP56 SR4 liquid-cooled optical module, which is based on Hitech's mature liquid-cooled technology platform. As the representative of Hitech Semiconductor's full series of liquid-cooled optical modules, the 200G QSFP56 SR4 liquid-cooled optical module is applied to 200GBASE-SR4 Ethernet links and adopts 50G PAM4 VCSEL technology, which can interconnect data up to 212.5Gbps within 100m via 4 pairs of multimode fibres with FEC enabled. The product's excellent optical device sealing design can effectively prevent coolant from entering the optical path, thus preventing the effect of the solution on the optical path. Customised reliability test equipment ensures the special reliability test requirements of liquid-cooled optical modules, providing customers with highly reliable and cost-effective optical interconnect solutions for their submerged liquid-cooled data centres.
In addition to the submerged liquid-cooled Live Demo, Hitech also brought industry-leading products with excellent performance, such as 800G OSFP DRB, 400G QSFP-112 SR4, 400G QSFP-112 DR4(siph), and board-level interconnect. These products fully meet the diversified needs of the current market and have been unanimously recognised by many customers.
During the same period of the exhibition, in response to the current status of silicon optical wafer packaging and testing technology, Dr Lin Tianying of Haikou Semiconductor's Silicon Optical R&D Center delivered a keynote report titled "Challenges of Next-Generation Silicon Optical Wafer Packaging and Testing Technology", in which Dr Lin said that silicon optical technology, with its advantages of low-cost, high integration, and low-power consumption, has been widely used in the short-range optical interconnect scenarios within the data centre and that in the next-generation data centres, high-speed optical module requirements, such as 200G/lane transceivers, have been widely applied. For example, 200G/lane transceiver technology, LPO, NPO, etc., silicon optical technology is also considered as one of the main technology directions. However, silicon optical wafer packaging still faces more technical challenges, such as automated wafer-level testing technology, high-power laser packaging solutions, standardised low-cost light engine packaging, and 2.5D/3D high-speed packaging. This report discusses and looks forward to the above technical challenges.
Finally, the Hitech 800G OSFP SR8 AOC liquid-cooled optical module won the 2023 Product Innovation Award for its efficient heat dissipation performance and excellent product reliability, and the reason for the award: more efficient heat dissipation and energy use efficiency, is to help build a green and low-power data centre.
